I just installed my Walbro 342 pump and was driving like a bat out of hell when.....the car felt like it was coasting and the boost disappeared for a second. This happened around 7000 rpm's and came back at close to 7500. I was doing a second gear pull. Anybody have ideas on what it might be. I am running the 3.8 pulley, stock injectors, 342 pump and 10deg timing and wondered if maybe the blower belt slipped? Or maybe the crank belt slipped? Any ideas? There was no smoke, blue or black out the exhaust, so it didn't go lean or anything. The reason I was considering the problem to be a belt slip is that it likes to squeal a little under a low rpm load. Thanks for the help!

This may or may not have anything whatsoever to do with it, but when I added some STP octane boost, it went away for good. My problem was in 1st gear at 5400 RPMS. It would cut out, and then cut back in with such force that the tires would chirp. It's fine now though, and has been for about 1k miles.

If this is the only time that this has occurred... never before and never again... then it was a "Solar Flare". Don't forget... but don't worry yourself sick.
If it continues, then check your belt tension at the alternator and blower belts. This is probably your problem as you suggested.

What in the world is a SOLAR FLARE? The slippping sensation happened to me again on the way home. Is it possible that my Clutch Masters Stage 3 Heavy Duty might be slipping? Am I really putting that much power to the ground?

I felt this on the highway several times. It's like someone turned off the car. I would be under acceleration and then nothing -just coasting. Then I get off the throttle and the car would resume normally.
I'm blaming the Jackson FPR. Just a hunch. It either electrical (ignition0 or the fuel. Somethings cutting off.

I'm having this problem also. But it only happens to me when the car has been turned off for a little while. I'll start it up, and start driving, it will do this weird bogging thing for a few minutes and then go away. If I let off the accelerator, or shift gears the power comes back. It's like something is stuck somewhere that keeps getting lodged in the way of something. Fuel filter perhaps? Someone mentioned a clogged Catalytic Conv as a possiblity also, but I don't know.

this happened to me - it turned out to be a fuel pump problem, the fuel pump could not supply enough gas and it would choke (good thinng I already had a built motor).. I was using an intank and inline pump.. I fixed the problem by switching to inline only (T.O.O. setup)... it hasnt happened since.. just something to concider

I have the intank walbro 255 pump installed. What I can't figure out is why mine only does it at first when the is is first driven. I never does it after the first few minutes of operation.

Ok, my car did it again last night. It totally sounded like a fuel problem. This time, the car jerked VERY violently, enough to chirp the tires, and I heard some terrible sounds from the exhaust. This happened in 1st gear. It only happens when I go part throttle in first then stomp on it hard.
I'm thinking I need a beefier fuel pump.
